Jowell – Jowell Gaela

Mentioning Lucban,Quezon and if Pahiyas festivity is the only thing that comes to mind, think again. The town is not just a place for a well known tradition, it also speaks of it's residents creativity and ingenuity which makes a home to talented young artist who made names for themselves in the world of art, and one of them is Jowell Gaela. At the age of five he started to shows his ability to paint. He in fact learned to draw before he could even read or write, that makes him gifted. Though unarmed with formal training in fine arts,his talent was hones by miles of canvas that he has painted over the years together with this own genuine sense of art appreciation. He work mainly in watercolor with old- Spanish mansion as subjects. As a graduate of Architectural Drafting, he focus on working with subject details that are evident in his works.
Jowell's art are traditional in presentation and composition. His genre usually includes floral, still-lifes and landscapes in oil. He believes in the important of perseverance in an artist, which he possess. Since he started as a full time artist, he was influenced by the colorful tradition of his native town.
