Rouge – Souli Boussiou

About

When I paint I banish reason and let emotion take control. Then painting becomes an adventure. Whatever the result is, it remains pure. My painting is a ‘child of love’. I paint from nothing, I begin with nothing. I solve problems with my instinct, with my feelings, and the greatest are where to begin and where to end.
I plunge myself into the adventure, the search .... for form, for colour-composition, for ultimate artistic truth. I try to get in the mood by spreading out colours that writhe and swarm all over the canvas. The expressive power of colour is the foundation of my method of painting, of that I am sure. Do I belong to the “fauves” or to the “expressionists”? Or do I just do my own thing?
It remains an open question whether I will ever arrive at the substance of painting. Maybe this is what pushes me on to exceed my own knowledge and feelings so I can define painting ... with my painting ...

En vérité, je n'ai que tres rarement le sentiment d'etre l'auteur de ce que je fais. J'en suis plutôt l'acoucheur, le dépositaire temporaire. Ce que mes peintures exprime nt n'est pas véritablement ma propriété, pas de mon "moi conscient"
